Whale Watching
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to see a beautiful whale leaping from the water waving a fin as if to say ‘hello,’ then we have the excursion for you. From January 15th to March 20th over every year, more than 10,000 (ten thousand) incredible humpback whales call the waters around the Dominican Republic, and particularly Samaná Bay, home. They come down to calve and mate so the waters in the bay are almost teaming with them.
Often you can see them swimming past the villa on their way to the bay, but an excursion there is the best way to see them. Our excursion takes you to the bay where you are turned over to the certified whale watching boats.
On board the 50ft Whale Watch Boat is a Marine Mammal Specialist narrating and answering questions, as passengers have the opportunity to witness incredible displays of flippering, tail lobbing and breaching – and possibly even hear the male humpback’s solitary courting song.
